Larry Joseph Ondrick

Larry Joseph Ondrick, 76, of Avella, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021, in Concordia Hospice of Washington (Donnell House).

He was born June 26, 1944, in Washington, a son of the late Joseph and Zolia Brown Ondrick.

Larry was a 1962 graduate of Avella High School. He was an ironworker out of Ironworkers Local Union 549 of Wheeling, W.Va., where he received his 55-year membership pin. He also worked as a foreman for AC Dellovade Inc., retiring in 2002.

He was a lifelong resident of Avella and a former Independence supervisor.

Larry was an avid golfer, bowler, and enjoyed going to the Meadows to gamble and watch the horse races.

He loved to spend time with his family, especially watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.

On September 22, 1965, in Wellsburg, W.Va., he married Dorothy “Dodo” Yolch, who survives.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 55 years, are two daughters, Melissa (Dan) Steffen of Armonk, N.Y., and Richelle (Tom) Mucci of Washington; five grandchildren, Kyle and Ally Steffen, Tommy, Mikayla and Joey Mucci; sister-in-law Betty (James) Marker and brother-in-law Mike Yolch, both of Avella; nieces and nephews Lori, Michael, Nicole, Tara and Jimbo.

Friends and family were received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 5, in the Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc., 18 Campbell Street, Avella, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 6.

Burial will be in West Point Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Athletics Inc.
