Shaun J. Smitley, 38, of Carmichaels, died March 22, 2021, in his home. He struggled for many years with drug addiction. Mercy on all families that struggle and suffer with them.

Shaun was born June 10, 1982, a son of the late Ronald “Jake” Smitley and Eve Prodan Smitley, of Carmichaels.

He was a graduate of Jefferson-Morgan High School, Class of 2000, and graduated from Culinary School in Pittsburgh. He worked at several local restaurants in the area. He enjoyed fishing with his cousin and friend, Grant Prodan.

Shaun is survived by his sister, Rachelle Katruska (Joey) of Clarksville; a stepbrother and sister, Russell “R.J.” and Jocelyn Kramer; aunts and uncles, Don and Brenda Prodan and Connie and Bob Nyswaner; grandmother, Patricia Hammercheck; nieces and nephews, Jillian, Joelle, Jacob Katruska; and cousins.

A celebration of Shaun’s life will be held at a later date.
