Dolores Jean Leonard Horner
Dolores Jean Leonard Horner, 89, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021, at Paramount Senior Living in Peters Township with her family by her side.
She was born on September 22, 1932, in Washington, a daughter of the late James and Grace Beddow Leonard.
On February 26, 1949, she married William E. Horner Sr., who passed away September 28, 1997.
Mrs. Horner was a homemaker, having raised four children whom she cherished greatly. She also had worked part-time for Arlis Chambers Farms and had previously cleaned homes and offices for various businesses in the surrounding areas.
Mrs. Horner enjoyed many hobbies such as playing BINGO, crocheting afghans, cooking, baking, and especially, her trips to the casino. She also loved holiday gatherings and picnics with her family.
Surviving are her four children, Gloria (John) Medlen of Claysville, William (Alie) Horner, Jr. of Claysville, Sue (Marc) Pattison of Claysville, and James Horner of Washington; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Horner was a kind, loving, generous soul who never turned her back to anyone. She was a great listener and always supportive. She was known to some as “Maw” and “Granny” and to others as “Gram”, but she was ultimately everyone’s mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Mrs. Horner was the last of her immediate family.
At the request of the deceased, all services will be private.
A graveside service for Mrs. Horner will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
