Larry G. Carter
Larry G. Carter, 80, of Avella, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021, in Weirton Medical Center, Weirton, W.Va.
He was born November 23, 1941, in Washington, a son of the late Clarence Elden Carter and Bertha Bernice Bell Carter.
Mr. Carter was a 1960 graduate of Fort Cherry High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1964 with the rank of Airman 1st Class.
Larry worked as a truck driver for Koppers Company Inc. for 21 years and then for Boncisky Services, which was sold to Enterprise, from where he retired in 2002.
He was a lifelong farmer; he grew up on a farm and on April 1, 1970, he and his wife, Carol purchased their farm in Avella.
Mr. Carter was a member of Bert C. Siders American Legion Post 643 of Avella, Richard Vaux Masonic Lodge 454 in Hanover Township, where he was a past master, and Victory Life Church in Burgettstown.
On September 17, 1966, he married his wife of 55 years, Carol Lee Eiler, who survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Patricia (Cash) Khan of Portland, Tenn., Carla Powers of Langeloth and Glenda of West Virginia; four grandchildren, Cody (Amy) Moore, Eric Moore, Daniel Nutter and Alix Powers; one great-granddaughter, Opal Ann Moore; and a sister, Gayle Hathaway of Washington.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are two brothers, Robert and Elden Carter.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitations. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Carter Family farm at a later date.
