Charles Paul “Crowbar” Johnson, 68, of Washington, died Wednesday, September 29, 2021, in Washington Hospital.

He was born July 27, 1953, in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Charles and Nancy Boyle Johnson.

Charles served his country in the US Navy aboard the USS NOXUBEE, during the Vietnam era, and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.

He was a machinist with Mass Machine for 12 years and was also a painter.

Charles loved animals, watching Penguins hockey, and the Andy Griffith show. He loved going to the beach and spending time in the ocean, and was the life of the party wherever he went. He played guitar in a cover band “Up in Smoke,” and was a member of the Independent Club in Washington.

On December 22, 1979, Charles married Pamela Parkinson Johnson, who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Sara (Garrett) Jageman, of White Oak; grandchildren, Issac and Aria Jageman; best friend, Dan Mass; sister and brother-in-law, Linda Sue (Michael) Sico; brother and sister-in-law, Bob (Maudee) Parkinson; niece, Kate Parkinson; nephews, Ryan Parkinson, Chuck James, Jason Megyesy; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Preceding Charles in death was his mother-in-law, Pearl Parkinson.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 6, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where a service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 7.

Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 175.
