Elmer H. Brown

Elmer H. Brown, 101, of McDonald died Thursday, October 7, 2021 at his home.

He was born July 26, 1920 in Rimersburg, a son of the Arthur and Ruth Henry Brown.

Mr. Brown was a brakeman for the Pennsylvania Railroad for more than 30 years and retired in 1982.

He was a member of the McDonald Presbyterian Church where he was a longtime Trustee. He was involved with the McDonald Food Bank for more than 25 years and was a past president.

Helping his family was of utmost importance to Elmer and he would drop things to be able to be there for them.

On August 11, 1943, he married Wilma Jean Lidster, who died April 5, 2002.

Surviving are two sons, William A. (Kathy) Brown of Coraopolis, and Terry P. (Lisa) Brown of Pittsburgh; a daughter, Maryellen Moorehead of Pittsburgh; nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased are three sisters, Mildred Dowler, Helen Clark, and Fern Clark; and a brother, James Brown.

The family requests that visitors wear masks, and they will be received from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday at Nation Funeral Home, Inc., 220 E. Lincoln Avenue, McDonald, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 11, 2021 with his nephew, Rev. Dick Clark, officiating.

Burial will follow in Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald. Memorial contributions are suggested to McDonald Presbyterian Church.
