Betty M. Oberg Rosquist Pecore, 86, passed Saturay, October 16, 2021.

She was the loving wife of the late Robert E. Pecore; incredible mother to Robert (Caridad), Douglas (Jill) and David (fiancee Donna); dedicated grandmother of Michael, Randi, Allison, Anders, Camryn, Vincent, Justin and Jessica; as well as great-grandmother of Sevin, Lionel and Emery.

Born October 11, 1935, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a daughter of Frans and Selma Rosquist. Never knowing her father, Frans, who passed away before she was born, her surname changed upon her mother’s marriage to Nils Oberg.

A gifted student, she graduated from Bay Ridge High School at the age of 16.

She met her future husband while working in the Chrysler Building in Manhattan. They were married May 7, 1955.

She had an ability to make friends easily, which was helpful because their first 14 years saw relocations to Georgetown, DC, Alexandria Va., Commack, N.Y., Syracuse, N.Y., Laurel, Md., Syracuse again, and Allentown. In 1969 they settled into 16 wonderful years in McMurray, outside of Pittsburgh, before moving to Phoenix, Ariz., in 1985, but they returned to Pittsburgh in 1995.

She was an avid tennis player and devoted follower of the game, a committed Cub Scout den leader, a talented piano player, and an extremely gifted writer. She loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins. She held a deep enthusiasm for the music of John Phillips Sousa. She was a life- long fan of Howard Keel, Laurel & Hardy, and the Brooklyn Dodgers of Jackie Robinson, Gil Hodges, Pee Wee Reese and Roy Campanella.

She was selfless in her devotion and sacrifice for her children. She cared deeply for those she loved. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
