Ray Vance Lohr

Ray Vance Lohr, 90, of West Finley, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at home surrounded by family.

He was born in West Finley, on November 10, 1930, son of the late Ray A. and Bess Kennedy Lohr. He graduated from West Alexander High School.

Ray worked for Columbia Gas Co. for 43 years where he was a welder. Later on he worked on various pipelines as a welding inspector.

Ray was a member of Sand Hill United Methodist Church, a 32nd degree Mason with Cameron Lodge 17, and a member of the Scottish Rite.

Ray was also a Veteran of the US Air Force. He enjoyed spending time with his family, co-workers, and friends, cattle farming, hunting, and working as a welder.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Melva “Mae” Milliken Lohr, and sister, Merle Robinson.

He is survived by his daughter, Debra Sue (Danny) Dorsey of Dallas, W.Va.; Grandchildren, Tammy (John) Huff, Carrie (Billy) Riggle, George Vincent (Jennifer) Junkins Jr., Ashley (Casey) Hill, Connie (Jake) Bloom, and Brandon (Amber) Dorsey; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation and services will be private for immediate family members.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for family and friends. Donations can be made to Mason Lodge Cameron #17, 24 Main Street, Cameron, WV 26033.
