Richard J. Gottfreid
Richard J. Gottfreid, 86, of Nemacolin, formerly of Duquesne, died Saturday, October 23, 2021, in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Rico was born December 15, 1934, in McKeesport, a son of the late John and Solonge Bartoch Gottfreid.
Rico is survived by two sons, Richard Jr. of Port Vue, and Ramon of Vero Beach, Fla.; and a grandson, Brandon Gottfreid of Pittsburgh.
His beloved wife, Shirley Helen, died in May 2020.
Rico worked as a mail carrier in Duquesne early on then became a coal miner at Cumberland Mine.
He enjoyed shooting, telling stories, and colorful jokes. He would visit Shirley in the nursing home and regal anyone in listening distance with a tale.
Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 27, and from noon to 1 p.m., the time of a funeral service, Thursday, October 28, in the Paul M. Lesako Funeral Home Inc., 204 Dowlin Avenue, Carmichaels, 724-966-5100, Paul M. Lesako, funeral director / supervisor. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Crucible.
