Jack Ray Rhoades

Jack Ray Rhoades, 87, of Thornville, Ohio, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021, in Licking Memorial Hospital. Jack was born in Waynesburg to the late Ewing and Edria Rhoades.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Phyllis Rhoades; son, Jack Rhoades Jr. (Dreama); daughters, Cathy Kovach (Rick), Dusty Mayhew (Jack) and Patty Wilson (Gary); stepdaughters, Donna McCance (Rick), Dianna Rodway and Denise Elkins (Jack); brothers, James Rhoades and William Rhoades (Marlene); and sister, Patty Beatty.

Jack’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were beloved by him (grandchildren; Buenadette, April, Abby, Tiffany, Ricky, Jason, Robyn, Mathew, Beth, Lisa, Kristie, Tracey, Zac, Trey, Austyn, Lewis, Ethan, Madison, Jaclyn, Justin, Jordyn; great-grandchildren, Justin, Emily, Joseph, Jacob, R.J., Aveigha, Savino, Jeremy, Jocelyn, Quade, Nora, Riley, Sadie, Cordin, Colson, Oliver, Lucy, Aubrey Jr., Bowen, Huxen, and Dutcher; and great-great-granddaughter, Kathryn).

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Walter Rhoades and Dick Rhoades; sister, Mearl Beatty; daughter, Debbie Storf (Tom); stepson, Donovan Shevel; and great-granddaughter, Quinn McCance.

Jack served his country in the Navy and spent a long career as an independent truck driver. Jack attended The River Church in Lancaster, Ohio. He loved refurbishing his 1973 Mustang with his grandsons, playing poker, sipping good whiskey, and watching old Westerns. He will be greatly missed.

A memorial will be held for friends and family at Jack and Phyllis’s home at 3 p.m. Sunday, October 31.
