Benton David Dante Montelione Manypenny, a loving son, grandson brother, and nephew, who had a gift of never meeting a stranger, passed away suddenly Sunday, August 29, 2021, from an epileptic seizure cardiac arrest. He was 41.

Born March 24, 1980, in Wheeling, W.Va., Ben was one of two sons born to Lawrence and Constance Montelione Manypenny.

Benton graduated from Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic School and attended Weirton Madonna High School. He transferred to Weir High School his sophomore year and graduated in 1998. In high school and middle school, Ben was a member of the football, wrestling and track teams.

Ben worked for Holy Basil, LLC. as a manager, where he was regarded as an excellent employee and considered the owner, Deepak as his brother.

He also was a local disc jockey known as D.J. Train. Very family-oriented, Ben found most of his enjoyment in life helping others and being part of the community.

He enjoyed coaching Weir Middle School Football and Wrestling and volunteering his time with the Mel Blount Youth Home, All-Star Steeler Roast, the Art Rooney Award Dinner; and volunteering as the Weirton Junior Don public address announcer during the 1995 championship season.

In his free time, Ben enjoyed spending time with his three rescue dogs and cats, listening to music, attending concerts, and had season tickets to West Virginia University football.

Ben was a member of the Saint Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Weirton, and the Sons of The American Legion, where he served as president. He was a prolific fundraiser.

Ben was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bruno Montelione; his grandparents, Hazel and Joseph Manypenny, his uncles, Joseph Montelione and Joseph Perry Manypenny.

Ben will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his parents, Larry and Connie Manypenny; his brother, Bruno Montelione (Jennifer) Manypenny; his grandmother, June Parnos; his uncle, David Montelione; and many family and friends he met along the way.

Family and friends were welcome from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 31. Visitation continues from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, in the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, W.Va.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 2, in Saint Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Weirton.
