Roger Victor Riggs Sr.
Roger Victor Riggs Sr., 85, of Washington, went to be with Jesus Monday, August 30, 2021, surrounded by family, in his home, after a courageous four-year battle with cancer.
He was born February 22, 1936, to the late Senate and Ruth Riggs.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1958. He retired from Bethlehem Steel in 1998 after 34 years of service.
On March 10, 1955, he married Martha Hatzell, who survives. He is also survived by four sons, Roger Riggs Jr. of Cokeburg, Dennis Riggs of Pittsburgh, David (Becca) Riggs if Huntsville, Ala., and Darren (Jennifer) Riggs of Washington; John Nusser of Cokeburg, who has been like another son for 30 years. Also survived by two granddaughters, Samantha and Megan Riggs of West Virginia; and one great-grandson, Tucker.
He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his faithful dog, Babi Gurl.
He is also survived by a sister, Deanna (Charles) Lapp of West Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Ella Coen and Alberta Hancher, both of Washington.
Deceased is a brother, Senate Riggs Jr.; and a brother-in-law, William “Bill” Coen, who was like a brother to him.
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He will be remembered as a kind and loving soul, who was always quick with a joke. He was loved by all.
He was a member of the Living Waters Church of God.
At Roger’s request, there will be no public visitation.
There will be a private memorial service at the time of burial.
