Laron Eugene Holcomb
Laron “Buddy James” Eugene Holcomb, 73, of Ellsworth, a man who loved God, family, music and his country, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021, in Washington Hospital.
He was born March 15, 1948, in Chattanooga, Tenn., a son of the late Ernest L. and Martha Jane Sharrick Holcomb.
Mr. Holcomb graduated from Soddy Daisy High School, Tennessee, in 1967, and then joined the United States Air Force.
Laron was a gifted musician and loved playing music with his friends. He began his professional music career playing Texas swing when he was stationed at Brooks Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
After returning home to Soddy Daisy, he continued playing many venues in Chattanooga, Tenn., and the surrounding areas. He loved playing and singing Gospel music for the Glory of God. He was an ordained Evangelist. He loved fast cars, racing cars, motorcycles, boats and guns. He loved God, guns and family.
Laron always extended a helping hand to those in need. As a retired police officer, he continued to serve his fellow man as a volunteer police officer and volunteer firefighter, a service he began at a young age serving with the Soddy Daisy Civil Air Patrol and Rescue Squad. He was currently captain and chaplain of the Ellsworth Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving are his loving wife, Laura Wagner Holcomb; two daughters, Julie Marie and Whitney Holcomb; three brothers, Robert L. “Bob” Holcomb, Morris W. Holcomb and Michael Landreth; a sister, Ernestine Holcomb Heard.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, September 19, in the Bentworth High School Auditorium, 75 Bearcat Drive, Bentleyville.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Ellsworth Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 512, Ellsworth, PA 15331.
