Sebastiano P. Zangla
Sebastiano P. “Sam” Zangla, 82, of Vestaburg, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021, in his home.
He was born May 22, 1939, in Brownsville, a son of the late Anthony D. and Anna Branca Zangla.
Mr. Zangla was employed as an underground coal miner with J&L Mines retiring with 15 years of service.
He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and a faithful member of the Blainsburg Bible Church, where he also served on the church board.
Sam was an avid reader, especially the Bible, who also enjoyed watching the Steelers on TV and doing electrical projects around the house.
On October 16, 1992, he married Bonnie Darney Zangla, who survives.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are eight children, Michael Zangla Sr. (Brenda), Samuel Zangla Sr., Tina Toth (Jimmy), Ann Howes (Andy), Billie Jo Polaski (Dave), John White (Melanie), Ruth Caputo (Joe) and Tonya Sullenberger (Duaine); 16 grandchildren, Michael Zangla Jr., Shannon Bell, Preston Zangla, Samuel Zangla Jr., Brittany Toth, Brianna Toth, Thomas Scott, Kirstin Howes, Courtney Howes, Kristy Bodnar, Chelsey White, Tana Caputo, Joey Caputo, Paige Sullenberger, Maverick Sullenberger and Jordan Sullenberger; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are his first wife, Mary Lou Zangla; a son, Phillip Zangla; and two brothers.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 20, in Greenlee’s Fredericktown Funeral Home, Ltd., 42 Bank Street at Crawford Road, Fredericktown, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 21, with Pastors Frank Menhart and Josh Koss officiating. Interment will follow in Beallsville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Blainsburg Bible Church, 104 4th Boulevard, Brownsville, PA 15417.
