Julius Sedlitsky
Julius “Jules” Sedlitsky, 78, of Washington, passed away Friday September 17, 2021, in Washington Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born April 1, 1943, in Canonsburg, a son of the late Julius and Stella Towchik Sedlitsky. Raised in Canonsburg he lived most of his life in Washington’s Lone Pine area.
Jules proudly served with United States Navy as Petty Officer Second Class aboard the USS Saratoga and was a member of the American Legion Post 175 in Washington.
He was Catholic by faith and prior to his retirement had been employed as head of security for Gabriel Brothers in Washington. Jules had a passion for antique cars and was a member of the Washington Cruisers.
He most enjoyed traveling and being with his family. On May 28, 1988, he married Sue McElhaney who survives. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his sons, Kirk, Dylan J and Daniel E Sedlitsky, all of Washington; and his daughter, Stephanie of Louisiana; his sister-in-law, Joan Sedlitsky of Canonsburg; two granddaughters, Alysa and Amber Sedlitsky and several nieces and nephews. Julius was the last of his immediate family. Deceased, in addition to his parents, is his brother Frank Sedlitsky, who passed away September 7, 1988.
Friends and family are welcome from 10 a.m. until noon Tuesday, September 21, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where Catholic Blessing Services will be held at noon.
Due to current conditions due to COVID, the family suggests masks be worn at the funeral home. Interment will full Military Honors by the VFW Post 191 of Canonsburg and the United States Navy Honor Guards will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery, Cecil.
