Joe Pappas
Joe “JR” Pappas passed unexpectedly Monday, September 20, 2021. Although we are grieving, we know that he was called by our Heavenly Father.
JR is the husband and best friend of Jill Pappas of 30 years. He was the amazing daddy to Alina Pappas and her partner, Serge Efap of New York City, N.Y., and Ashley Krampert and her partner, James Taylor of Warminster, Wiltshire, England; adored poppous (grandpa) to JJ (James Taylor).
He was born June 21, 1960, in Washington, to the late Joseph and Mary Marcus Pappas. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved brother, John “Biff” Pappas; and mother-in-law, Carol A. Milesky.
In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his loving sister, Cindy Blake; brother, Mickey Pappas; and nieces and nephews who he loved dearly. Family was extremely important to JR.
JR was a graduate of Robert Morris University and ICM School of Business, and a proud graduate of Burgettstown High School, where he played football and basketball.
Joe was a mortgage banker for more than 30 years. He started Statesman Mortgage Corp. in 1993 and then in 2008, he joined Victorian Finance as a loan officer. He was passionate about his career, loved helping people, and went above and beyond to service his clients.
He was an active participant in his community as past president of the Peters Township Chamber of Commerce, and of numerous network groups. He was a faithful gym member at the Cameron Wellness Center. He took pride in being involved in the kids’ activities, especially being a dance dad.
In his free time, JR loved to travel with his family, socialize, golf, snow ski, enjoy good food and wine, and go on long bicycle rides with his wife, Jill. He loved sports, especially the Pirates and Steelers.
