Rodger Smith Johnson

Rodger Smith “Smitty” Johnson, 81, of Pataskala, Ohio, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021.

He was born August 24, 1940 in Castile, to the late Rose and Rodger Johnson.

Rodger was a proud veteran of the United States Army.

He retired after 35 hardworking years from Western Electric.

In his free time Rodger enjoyed golfing, gardening, antiquing and watching sports.

Growing up Rodger was the pitcher for his Pony League baseball team. Those that knew Rodger knew him as an honest, hardworking, funny, and dedicated man, especially to his family for whom he loved deeply.

Rodger was truly a friend to all, and he never knew a stranger.

He is survived by his beloved children, Cheryl Andrietti, Steve (Kalli) Johnson, Jack Johnson, Krista (Eric) Brunken, and Lisa (Zach) Fisher; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Flo (Gene) Vrabel and Doug (LouAnn) Johnson; and a host of other, family, friends, and loved ones.

Rodger is preceded in passing by his wife of 44 years, Helen Johnson; grandson, Steven Johnson; great-grandson, Jace Johnson; and siblings, Byron Johnson and Frederick Louis Johnson.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 30, at Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, 289 S. Main Street, Pataskala, OH 43062.

A funeral service will begin 10 a.m. Friday, October 1, at the funeral home.

An internment service will immediately follow at Pataskala Cemetery.
