Nicholas C. Matich

Nicholas C. Matich, 78, of Bethel Park, passed away peacefully, Sunday, April 17, 2022, in Bridgeville Rehabilitation and Care.

He was born March 4, 1944, in McKeesport, a son of Thomas and Mary Nichelson Matich.

Nick was a 1961 graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School, and received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education from California State College (PA). Following graduation, he worked as a teacher for a few years.

He had also worked in the engineering department for Consolidated Coal, prior to starting his own software and support company, COM-4 Computer Consulting, Inc. in 1984. He continued until his retirement in 2012.

Mr. Matich enjoyed golfing and was a former member of Washington and Rolling Hills Country Clubs.

On December 22, 1978, he married Joyce Surow who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Michelle Michiels (Chris), of Chalfont; two sons, Thomas J. Matich (Kelly), of Greentree, and Russell T. Matich (LeaAnn), of Elizabeth; five grandchildren, Ethan and Marissa Michiels, Alex and T.J. Matich and Ryan Matich; two brothers, Thomas G. Matich Jr of Eureka, Mo., and James Matich (Donna) of Norwich, Conn.

A memorial service may be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner / Supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342.

The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the charity of their choice.
