Charles W. Moyar
Charles W. “Chuck” Moyar, 73, of Canonsburg, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, April 22, 2022, in Canonsburg General Hospital.
He was born September 30, 1948, in Washington, a son of the late Charles Matthew and Hilda Mae Faust Moyar.
After graduating from Chartiers-Houston High School in 1966, Chuck proudly served as a Sergeant with the United States Marine Corps during two tours of Vietnam from 1967 to 1969, receiving two Purple Hearts.
Prior to his retirement he was a cement truck driver for Donaldsons Supply in Canonsburg for 36 years. Chuck enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and his dogs, Baron and the late Cooper.
Chuck was a Life Member of VFW Post 191 in Canonsburg since 2000, where he served as past Commander from 2005-2007 and president of the Honor Guard from 2009 until his death. He was a member of the American Legion Post 902 in Houston, Marine Corps League #138 and the Vietnam Veterans of America. Mr. Moyar was a Life Member of the 1st Battalion 9th Marines Association “The Walking Dead”, 3rd Marines Division Assn., Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Khe Sanh Veteran Assn.
On April 13, 2013, he married his loving wife, Beth Thomas who survives. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his sons, Wesley, Trevor and Nolan Howarth, Michael Moyar, Mark Moyar, Jonathan Moyar; and daughters, Michelle Doyak (Michael) and Bobbie Moyar-Scherff; his sisters, Carrie Barnes (Lee), Virginia Favazzo (Joe) and Linda Gentilly (Jon), his half-sister Gina McNamara; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are welcome from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2022, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra FD owner / supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2022.
Interment with full military rites by the United States Marine Corps and VFW Post 191 Honor Guard of Canonsburg will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Twp.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the veteran’s organization of the donor’s choice.
