Bernard Joseph Veres, 86, of Cecil, died Monday, April 25, 2022, in his home.

He was born October 16, 1935, in Canonsburg, a son of the late Joseph and Mary Krashna Veres.

He was a member of Corpus Christi Parish, St. Mary Church, Cecil, where he was an usher. He enjoyed bowling and hunting. Bernie raised beagles and was a member of Chartiers Valley Beagle Club. He loved to watch sports, especially Notre Dame.

He worked as a parts manager for A&H Equipment Company in Bridgeville.

Bernard served as a specialist in the U.S. Army earning the Good Conduct Medal.

Surviving are his wife, Lillian Steponak Veres of Cecil; sons, Michael (Lanette) Veres of Cave Creek, Ariz., David (Brenda) Veres of Homosassa, Fla., Matthew (Anne) Veres of Cecil; daughter, Daneen (James) Friel of Cecil; nine grandchildren, Miles, Kellie, David Jr., Chelsea, Heather, Rebecca, Maggie, Ben and Allie; six great-grandchildren, and two additional great-grandchildren on the way. Also survived by brothers, Joseph (Patricia) Veres of Canonsburg, and Robert (Kandy) Veres of Houston; as well as nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 28, in Coleman-Taylor Funeral Services, 3378 Millers Run Road, Cecil, PA 15321, where Prayers of Transfer will be said at 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 29, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Cecil, with Father Dennis Yurochko officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Cecil, with full military honors accorded by the Washington American Legion Honor Guard.
