Debra J. Gevenosky
Debra J. Gevenosky, 70, of Avella, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 1, 2022, in her home, with her husband and daughters by her side.
She was born December 15, 1951, in Wheeling, W.Va., a daughter of the late Melvin Dale and Virginia Faye Hileman Eastham.
Debbie was a 1969 graduate of Wellsburg High School and received an associate’s degree from Jefferson County Technical Institute. She did secretarial work in the area, retiring in 2009 to take care of her family.
Debbie was a member of Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church of Washington.
She enjoyed reading, traveling and meeting with her Bunco club.
Debbie loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
On May 14, 1977, in St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church of Avella, she married John Gevenosky, who survives.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of 45 years, are two daughters, Stacey (Matthew) Deeter and Shelley Gevenosky; and two grandchildren, Emelyn and Wyatt Deeter, all of Avella; two brothers, David (Linda) Leavitt of Naples, Fla., Bruce (Donna) Eastham of Wintersville, Ohio; a sister, Carol Bennett of Colliers, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are a son, John Gevenosky Jr.; a sister, Victoria Dingus; and a brother, Monty Leavitt.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, December 4, in the Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc., 18 Campbell Street, Avella, PA 15312. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, December 5, in Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church, 605 Hewitt Avenue, Washington, PA 15301, with Father Mark Swoger officiating.
Everyone is asked to meet at the church.
Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Avella.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Avella Public Library at 11 School Court A, Avella, PA 15312.
