Alice Regina Wyels Magayna, 94, of Vestaburg, died on November 29, 2022 in Washington Hospital.

She was born February 24, 1928 in Deemston Borough, Washington County, a daughter of the late George Irwin and Mary Agnes Skehan Wyels. She grew up a farm girl and was used to hard work.

Mrs. Magayna graduated in 1946 from Centreville High School.

As a young woman, Alice worked at the deli counter at the Pittsburgh Mercantile store in Vestaburg, where she caught the eye of Max Magayna, who became the love of her life. Max came to the store daily and bought just enough deli meat for his lunch sandwich the next day. Infatuation became love and they married on February 25, 1950. Max died on September 21, 1988, but to Alice he remained the love of her life until her passing.

Alice also worked at Charland Sportswear in Speers, from 1966 – 1975.

She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Fredericktown, from birth (now St. Katherine Drexel Parish in Richeyville).

She was an active member of the Beth-Center Senior Center where she served as President for two terms and Travel Club Chairman for two terms. She enjoyed the trips she made with her Travel Club friends, especially their trips to Hawaii and Nova Scotia.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards and bingo at the senior center. She enjoyed playing the slots at the Meadows Casino and went on many fun trips to Atlantic City with her gambling buddies.

She loved get-togethers and sharing delicious baked goods with her large, extended family.

Surviving are daughter, Karen Bailey of Canonsburg; son, David Magayna of Stevensville, Md.; daughter, Maxine Colbert (Brian) of Clarksville, and Chris Magayna-Brown (Kevin) of Washington, 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.

Deceased, in addition to husband, Max; are brother, George Wyels Jr; sister, Catherine Kinder; brother, William Wyels; sister, Marian Fowler; and granddaughter, Lynn Bailey Piatt.
