Patricia Ruth Cavezza Sames, 89, formerly of Bentleyville, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2022, in Concordia of Fox Chapel, Cheswick.

The oldest of four children, Pat was born December 8, 1932, in McKeesport, a daughter of the late Arthur Bryan and Ruth Herd Bryan Cavezza Wilson.

She met the love of her life, Ted, when she was a freshman at Sewickley High School. They married in 1952 and together they raised five children.

As a young family, they spent many years camping and fishing at Pymatuning State Park. While living in Tennessee for a few years, Ted and Pat introduced their family to boating, water skiing, and hiking.

They moved back to Pennsylvania and settled in Bentleyville, where they continued to enjoy their 54 years of marriage until Ted passed away in 2005.

Pat was a dedicated homemaker and took great pride in providing a loving, nurturing home for her family. She was always a great cook and hosted all holidays, picnics, and many special occasions for her family and friends. She made the best spaghetti sauce and meatballs, chicken, pies, and was especially known for her apple dumplings. Her daughter would open the refrigerator and think “there’s nothing to eat here,” whereas Pat would open the same refrigerator and put out a delicious feast!

Family and friends were always welcomed into her home and greeted with a cup of coffee and something good to eat. Pat loved playing games and taught her children, grandchildren, and even her great-grandchildren to play several card games, Scrabble, and Chinese checkers. She was a great fan of Jeopardy and she was an avid reader who belonged to the library book club. She was a Christian and an active member of her church. She was also a member of the Lioness organization.

Pat was a very outgoing person and people were naturally drawn to her. She was dearly loved by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and friends. Now, after living a life of caring and nurturing others, she is reunited with her true lasting love, Ted.

Surviving are her children, and their spouses, Diane and Frank Watson of Bentleyville, Dr. Theodore, Jr. and Krista Sames of Elizabeth, Gary Sames of Bentleyville, Michael and Christina Sames of Baltimore, Md., and D. Jason and Patty Sames of New Kensington; grandchildren, Frank Watson (Laura), Michael Watson (Margaret), Nicholas Watson (Stacey), Kerriane Sames, Wesley Sames, Meghan Sames Ritter (the late Benjamin), Ian Sames, Ryan Martin, Marisa Sames, Madeline Sames, Aidan Sames, Bryan Sames, Colin Sames, and David Sames; and her great-grandchildren, Abigail Watson, Nathaniel Watson, Amelia Watson, Emmett Watson, Finnegan Watson, Theo Watson, and Alba Watson; siblings, Phillip Cavezza of Florida, James Cavezza (Catherine) of West Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased is a sister, Rae Marie Ahlers.
