Joyce E. O’Bryon

Joyce E. O’Bryon, 82, of Canonsburg, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2022, in the Washington Hospital, with her family at her side.

She was born January 30, 1940, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Richard and Mary Evelyn Duvall Bird.

Mrs. O’Bryon was a 1957 graduate of Canonsburg High School.

Joyce was a member of Chartiers Hill United Presbyterian Church, Canonsburg, where she was a deacon and sang in the choir.

She enjoyed bowling, playing cards (500 bid) with her friends and was known for her potato salad and lady locks.

On June 24, 1957, she married Harold M. O’Bryon, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Amy Sablo (Dennis) of Morgan, and Mary Beth DeGennaro (David) of Washington; three grandchildren, Alan DeGennaro (Mary), Jesse DeGennaro and Stephanie O’Bryon (Amanda Dino); two great-grandsons, Hudson and Jack DeGennaro; a sister, Sally Andy of Canonsburg; a brother, David Bird of Long Island, N.Y.; a daughter-in-law, Dolores O’Bryon Danziger (Elmer) of McDonald; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a son, Jeffrey O’Bryon; and a brother, Richard Bird.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, December 15, in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, and from noon until the 1 p.m. time of service Friday, December 16, with the Rev. Peggy Shannon officiating, in Chartiers Hill United Presbyterian Church, 2230 Washington Road, Canonsburg, PA 15317. Interment will follow in Hill Church Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Chartiers Hill United Presbyterian Church.
