John E. Solensky, age 92, of Bridgeville, formerly of Canonsburg passed away peacefully Thursday, December 22, 2022, in St. Clair Hospital, Mt. Lebanon Township.

He was born June 14, 1930, a son of the late Steve and Anna Kilian Solensky.

John lived most of his life in Canonsburg, graduating from Canonsburg High School and then Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. He was a lifelong, faithful member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church of St. Oscar Romero Parish where he served as an usher and was a member of the Catholic Men’s Club and the dart ball league. John had been active with the Boy Scouts of America as scout master, commissioner and district commissioner. He was a member of the Jefferson College Historical Society and a social member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Solensky had been a sales representative in the Steel Industry for many years.

On August 8, 1953, he married Barbara L. Black, who survives after sixty-nine years of marriage.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved grandchildren Rachel Amelia (Justin) Manni of Toms River, N.J., and Austin Joseph (Amy) Sigler of Ellicott City, Md.; his brother Robert J. (Wilma) Solensky of Canonsburg; his son-in-law Eric (Jay) Sigler of Cranberry Township; and several nieces and nephews. A great-granddaughter is joyfully expected in January.

Deceased in addition to his parents are his three children, John E. Solensky III, Anna Mae Solensky, and Linda Sigler; his brother Albert M. Solensky; and two sisters, Anna Mae Solensky and Mary Alice Cimino.

Friends and family are welcome 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2022 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra LFD owner/ supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120, where departing prayers will be recited at 11:45 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon in St. Patrick Church of St. Oscar Romero Parish, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
