Lucille M. Burris

Lucille M. Burris, 89, of Florence; Hanover Twp., passed away on Saturday December 24, 2022 in Brightwood Center, Follansbee, W.Va.

She was born on March 8, 1933 a daughter of the late Harry and Cynthia Howell Marshall.

A gifted musician, she sang and played the guitar, organ, mandolin and accordion. She enjoyed yearly trips to Nashville with her siblings and going to square dances with her husband.

After the passing of her husband in 1986 she worked for Cloverleaf Restaurant in Florence, the Holiday Inn in Weirton and County Line Restaurant in Frankfort Springs and retired at 80 years old from Ponderosa Golf Course in Hookstown where she managed the Pro Shop.

Her husband, Donald L. Burris, Sr. who she married on June 14, 1949 passed away on September 2, 1986.

Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Carol Cox and husband David of Frankfort Springs, Barbara Craig and husband Donald of Clinton, Donald L. Burris, Jr. and wife Deetta of Florence and Linda Harvey and husband Mike of Florence; seven grandchildren David Cox, Wendy House and husband Jason, Jason Craig, Angela Nemetz and husband Allen, Christy Smallwood and husband Mike, Dawn Slorp and Kari Cox; many great-grandchildren who she adored; sisters, Wilma Shedlock, Mildred “Midge” Marshall and Juanita Marshall all of Hanover Twp.; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased in addition to her parents and husband are her son, William Burris who passed away on December 7, 1965; her grandson, Donald Craig Jr.; and three sisters, Doris Thomas, Leona Woods and Joanne Redman; and a brother Donald L. Marshall, Sr.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday December 29 in Slater Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. of Burgettstown, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, PA 15021 where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday December 30, 2022 with Pastor Kenn Jacobs officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Grandview Cemetery, Burgettstown.
