Margaret Anne Foreman

Margaret Anne “Peg” Foreman, 74, of Canonsburg, formerly of South Strabane Township, died Thursday, January 27, 2022, in her home.

She was born July 24, 1947, in Brownsville, a daughter of Joseph and Margaret Bodnar Sarkett.

Mrs. Foreman was a 1965 graduate of Bethlehem Center High School, the Presbyterian University Hospital School of Nursing in 1968, and received her Master’s in Education from California University of Pennsylvania in 1987.

She was employed by the Washington School District as school nurse from 1985 until 1989 and as guidance counselor from 1989 until her retirement in 2009.

Peg loved writing cards of encouragement to friends and family. She attended Grace Baptist Church in Canonsburg.

Mrs. Foreman received the 1988 Citizen of the Year Award, presented by the board of directors of the Crisis, Addiction, Recovery and Education Center in Washington, for her work as a school nurse helping students organize a Students Against Drunk Driving chapter and a Just Say No club.

On June 14, 1969, she married Kenneth L. Foreman, who survives.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two sons, William Foreman and his wife, Belinda of California, and Todd Foreman and his wife, Laura of Eighty Four; two grandchildren, Emma Marie and Ryan Todd Foreman; two sisters, Susan Kucera (Lou) of Bentleyville and Joann Naser of Canonsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

A brother, Joey Sarkett, is deceased.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, February 3, in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, February 4. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205, www.cancer.org.

The family asks that everyone please wear a mask for visitation and services.
