Clara Bell Goughenour
Clara Bell “Pooch” Goughenour, 93, of Hickory, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2022. She was born August 28, 1928, to the late Charles and Minnie Clemens.
Her first husband, Ralph Kennedy, passed in 1953.
On November 5, 1955, she married Burl Goughenour, who passed September 7, 2006. She then moved to her apartment in Southview for the next 16 years.
Clara was the last of her immediate family. Preceding her in death were siblings, Russel Clemens, Beulah Allen, Betty Filauro, Mary Walters, Helen Cooke and Peg Grabski; daughters, Patty Kennedy Rodgers, Janet Kennedy Carter, Clara Jane Goughenour; a son, Gary Lee Kennedy; and a grandson, Michael Edward Bongiorni Jr.
Surviving are her daughters, Nancy (Bubby) McElhaney, and Amy (Mike) Bongiorni; grandchildren, Heather Mullen, Kasie and Sam McElhaney, John and Mike Rodgers, Dylan and Geno (Nicolette) Bongiorni, and Brittany (Joe) Stevens; great-grandchildren, Joey Stermer, Reagan, Belva, Natasha and Natalie Rodgers, Carson and Riley Stevens, Hensley Bongiorni; also two very special persons, caregiver Veronica Cross and lifelong dear friend Chanda Cook.
