Mabel M. Hughes
Mabel M. Hughes, 74 of Washington passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 3, 2022.
She was born September 10, 1947 in Large, a daughter of the late David and Flossie Slyder Hughes.
Mabel was a homemaker and loved her dog, Blue. She also enjoyed watching television and working jigsaw and word search puzzles. Mabel loved drinking her soda and cooking. She was a good Christian woman who would give you her last dollar and the shirt off of her back. Mabel was a wonderful mother and grandmother who loved her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Surviving are two daughters, Sereina Hughes of North Carolina and Heather (Derek Bennett) Hughes of Washington; two sisters, Mary Anna Marie Misa of Washington and Becky Anderson of West Newton; and two grandchildren, Anthony Bennett of Washington and Aaliyah Bigelow of North Carolina. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, Mabel was preceded in death by a brother, John Hughes and by a brother-in-law, Allen Anderson.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 the hour of a funeral service in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave., Washington, S.
