Karen Lee Wardle, 77, of Eighty Four, died Thursday, February 10, 2022.

She was born April 23, 1944, in Canonsburg, a daughter of Karl and Giovanna Lorenzato Luxbacher.

Karen graduated from St. Clair High School in 1962.

On August 1, 1964, she married Ronald W. Wardle, her husband of 57 years of marriage, after meeting on a blind date.

Karen was a homemaker and enjoyed baking, sewing, working crosswords puzzles, and most of all spending time with her family and grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, William (Susan Cook) Wardle; her daughter, Cindy (John Gamble) Smigiel of Eighty Four; her sisters, Linda Weaver and Janis (Sean) Morin, both of Tiffin, Ohio; her grandchildren, Chad (Alicia) Lagoni of Pittsburgh, Somer Wardle of Canonsburg, Jesse Smigiel of Eighty Four and Jeremy Smigiel of Eighty Four; her soon-to-be great-granddaughter, Avery Lee; her daughter-in-law, Darla Lagoni; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Clifton Smigiel; and her brother, Bob Browell.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 15, in Sollon Funeral and Cremation Services, LTD, 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, Phillip L. Sollon, supervisor, 724-746-1000.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 16, in the funeral home, with Nathan Miller officiating.

Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests memorials to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
