Eleanor L. Popeck Johnson
Eleanor L. Popeck Johnson was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world suddenly on Friday, February 11, 2022, at age 75.
She was born to Stanley and Catherine Zastawniak Popeck on September 1, 1946. After graduating from Washington High School in 1964, Eleanor worked at Brockway Glass Plant, and then The Washington Hospital, retiring in 2011.
After retiring Eleanor moved to Florida with her family, where she loved New Smyrna Beach.
On April 28, 1973 she married Thomas R. Johnson. Together they had two daughters, Jennifer and Cathy.
Eleanor loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family and baking, especially her delicious Ho Ho cake! Eleanor made many wedding and birthday cakes for her family and friends.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Stanley “Stush” Popeck.
Surviving are two daughters, Jennifer (Cortney) Watkins, Cathy (Matthew) Sands; four grandsons, Brandon Johnson, Michael, Kayson and Maxwell Sands; a sister, Cecelia “Cookie” Kazakewicz, two brothers, Larry Popeck and Charlie Popeck; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2022, in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 1290 Jefferson Avenue, Washington.
A blessing service will immediately follow at 1 p.m. in the Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Washington.
