John Henry Davis
John Henry Davis, 91, of Washington, died Sunday, December 26, 2021, in Valley Grove, W.Va.
He was born July 1, 1930, in Short Creek, W.Va., a son of the late Leroy and Beulah Toland Davis.
John was the township superintendent – road department, for South Franklin Township.
He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping. He enjoyed bingo and spending time with friends and family.
On August 17, 1954, John married Alta Lilley Davis, who died January 29, 2009.
Surviving are a daughter, Shirley Stenger of Valley Grove; brother, Clyde Davis of Pleasant Grove; sister, Elsie Schumacher of Washington; grandchild, Billy (Jess Curtis) Stenger of Wheeling, W.Va.; and great-grandchildren, Isabella and Madalynn Stenger, also of Wheeling.
Preceding John in death, in addition to his wife and parents, are brothers, Ferris, Randall, Joe, Clarence, Archie and James Davis; and sister, Sarah Lilley.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where a service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 5.
Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, East Finley.
