Vivian Louise Montgomery Lewis

Vivian Louise Montgomery Lewis, 96, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Canonsburg, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021, in Beneva Lakes Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She was born September 29, 1925, in Mercer County, a daughter of the late John and Hazel Kerr Montgomery.

Vivian was a resident of Canonsburg since 1974, before moving to Florida in 2014. She was a member of the Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church, served on Session as an elder, taught Bible study and was a member of the arts and craft group. Vivian was actively involved in her community with the Meals on Wheels program in the Canonsburg/Houston area and taking plastic shopping bags and knitting them into quilts for the homeless. Vivian enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, board games and playing cards, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

On November 25, 1943, she married James “Jim” Lewis, who passed away July 10, 2014. Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Linda L. Houze of Sarasota; sons, James E. (Betty) Lewis of Altamonte Springs, Fla., John C. (Diana) Lewis of Farmington Hills, Mich., R. Jay (Toni) Lewis of Boise, Idaho, Kevin R. (Debra) Lewis of Canonsburg and Robert S. (Marilyn) Lewis of Montesano, Wash.; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren; sisters, Doris Kilgore of Franklin, and Ruth Careless of Mercer; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are her daughter, F. Jane Maguffee; granddaughter Krista M. Maguffee; brothers, Walter “Butch” Montgomery and John W. “Bud” Montgomery.

Friends and family are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 7, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra LFD, owner/supervisor, Erin E. Jones LFD, 304 W. Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 8, in Canonsburg UP Church, 112 W. Pike Street, Canonsburg. Everyone please meet at church.

Interment will follow at Woodruff Memorial Park, Canonsburg.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canonsburg-Houston Meals on Wheels, in memory of Vivian Lewis, 102 N. Main Street, Houston, PA 15342.
