Elizabeth Hope Sakel
Elizabeth Hope Sakel, 71, of Clarksville, died Sunday, December 26, 2021, in the Washington Health System, surrounded by her loving husband and daughters.
She was born at home in Centerville, on July 16, 1950, daughter of the late John and Evelyn Simon Sawka. She was a 1968 graduate of Bethlehem Center High School.
On May 31, 1969, she married the love of her life, John E. Sakel, with whom she has shared over 50 years of marriage.
Surviving in addition to her husband; are two daughters, Kimberly (Edward) Cook, Jennifer (Christopher) Murray; a brother, John (Madalyn) Sawka; two sisters, Ellen Marie (Mark) Mislo, Linda (John) Staley; a brother-in-law, Russel Staley; two grandchildren, Victoria “Tori” and Andrew “Drew” Cook whom she adored; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents; is a sister, (Evelyn) Joan Gordon.
Arrangements are entrusted to Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington.
At the request of the deceased all services will be private.
Elizabeth was an avid reader who enjoyed sharing her love of reading with the next generation. Instead of flowers, children’s books can be donated to libraries or schools in her memory, which will be a lasting legacy.
