Alida Jean Comko
Alida Jean Comko, 92, of Washington, formerly of Fairmont, West Virginia, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, in her home.
She was born November 12, 1929, in Fairmont, the daughter of the late Winfield S. and Rosanna C. Cronauer Bell.
Mrs. Comko was a graduate of Fairmont High School and attended Fairmont State University. She was Presbyterian by faith and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Comko was a very physically active woman who enjoyed swimming and diving. She taught swimming to children at Colonial Woods Pool in Washington for many years.
Her greatest joy was sitting in the bleachers watching her boys play football and baseball throughout high school and college. She was absolutely devoted to her family and loved all animals, especially her dogs. She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.
On September 17, 1949, she married Charles Comko, who died December 17, 2016. The couple had been married for 67 years at the time of his passing.
Surviving are a son, Shawn Bell Comko, of Washington; a daughter, Deborah Benjamin, of New York, a brother, The Honorable John (The Honorable Janet Moschetta) Bell, of Washington; and a sister, Connie Thompson of Weirton, West Virginia. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Comko was preceded in death by a son, Charles Matthew Comko; and a brother, Scott Bell.
Private burial was held in Washington Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Avenue, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Supervisor / Director, Holly Renay Warco, Director, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Park N. Crosier, Director.
