Mark J. Sivie
Mark J. Sivie, 65, of Ellsworth, died Monday, January 10, 2022.
He was born March 5, 1956, in Washington, a son of the late Frank and Elizabeth Chesney Sivie.
Mark graduated from Bentworth High School and continued his education, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering from Penn State University, and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Case Western Reserve University.
One of Mark’s greatest achievements was cofounding PulseNet Inc., in 1995, with his brother, Paul.
PulseNet was the first internet access company in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Mark continued to successfully operate the company until most recently.
As a professional engineer, Mark worked for International Salt, River Dock, and Ohio Bulk Transfer. As a project engineer manager, he oversaw major engineering projects. Among some of his accomplishments were bulk material convertors, limestone quarry design, and a patent on a self-unloading barge.
Mark was a member of St. Katherine Drexel Parish, formerly St. Lukes of Bentleyville. He was a member of Ten Mile Yacht Club, Nemacolin Country Club, and served on the board for Yablonski Clinic.
His passion for lacrosse led him to play for over 11 years at Penn State Lacrosse Club, Cleveland Lacrosse Club, Case Western Reserve Lacrosse Club, and Washington & Jefferson College Men’s Lacrosse. Mark was also an avid golfer.
He loved watching his niece and nephew play lacrosse and was their biggest supporter.
Mark is survived by two brothers, Paul Anthony (Eileen) Sivie, and Frank J. (Jody) Sivie; a sister, Reta (Phil) Sivie Berman; eight nieces and nephews, Anthony Sivie, Vanessa Sivie, Rachel Sivie, Joshua Sivie, Jeffrey Sivie, Polly Hall, Amy Berman and Michael Berman; as well as his blue tick coon hound, Higgins.
In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by an infant brother, Michael Sivie.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 14, in the Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington, where a prayer service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 15. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela.
