Shirley Ann Northrup, 74, of Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, passed away peacefully Monday, January 10, 2022, with her precious family by her side. Born in Charleroi, she was a daughter of the late Bernard and Carolyn Barisa.

She is survived and missed forever by her daughter, Yvonne (David) Richter of Costa Rica; her son, Ron Pellerin Jr. of Moncton; her cherished grandchildren, Alec Pellerin of Fredericton, Kayleigh and Kevin Pellerin of Moncton and their mother and special “daughter-in-law”, Jannette LeBlanc of Fort Langley, British Columbia. Also left to mourn are her two sisters, Geraldine (Dan) Sturchak, Annette (the late Paul) Starinsky; one brother, Bob (Debbie) Barisa; a nephew and many nieces, all of the United States.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by husband, Russell Northrup (2015); and her first husband and father of her children, Ron “Puppy” Pellerin (1991).

Always a very spiritual person, Shirley had many passions and interests – world traveller, animal lover, rescuer of grey hounds, passionate reader, lover of Playa del Carmen, Mexico, and her iced coffees! Oh, and let’s not forget those dragonflies that she loved so much, pictures of which adorned her walls.

Shirley obtained a BA in Psychology & Philosophy at Mount Allison University (1986) and a Masters in Adult Education (1993). She also successfully achieved a PhD in Metaphysical Sciences at Delphi University (2005). She was a grief counselor for several years, guiding many people through their grief and loss. Her heart was filled with compassion and love. Above all, she was a great teacher and mentor to her family and many friends.

Respecting her precise wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service.

Condolences for the family may be shared at www.fergusonsfuneralhome.com.
