Richard N. Rattenni, 78, of Canonsburg, died Thursday, January 13, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Richard was born January 12, 1944, in Washington County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn and Bernard J. Rattenni Sr. of Canonsburg; and his brother, Bernard J. Rattenni Jr. of Pittsburgh.

He is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 56 years, Jean; their two daughters, Cara Barlow and her husband, Aaron, and Traci Rattenni; also several cousins, nephews, nieces and many beloved friends from all over the world.

Richard was a caring and devoted husband to his precious wife. He worked tirelessly for his family and was always there for his daughters. He loved his family intensely, not just with words but by his living example. He taught them how to be unselfish, loyal and compassionate.

It was evident to all who knew him that Richie loved life. He was fascinated by the starry-night sky, the wondrous sunsets over the ocean’s horizon and cultivating colorful tropical flowers. He was known for his witty sense of humor, generosity and hospitality. Coming from an Italian family, he enjoyed good food and sharing a meal with others. Most of all, he loved his God and Creator, Jehovah. For 60 years he served as a minister in the local congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was active in the community sharing his Bible-based hope with others. It was this strong faith and hope that enabled him to look for ways to still help others, despite his recent physical limitations.

He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed for his beautiful qualities.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to Three Rivers Hospice for the kind and personal care shown to Richard.
