James H. Wilson
James H. Wilson, 61, of Claysville, died Sunday, January 23, 2022, in the Washington Hospital.
He was born August 23, 1960, in Washington, the son of the late Ivan Howard and Jean Aubrey Wilson.
Mr. Wilson attended Washington High School, and went on to work for PennDOT, first as an equipment operator, then as a truck driver, retiring in 2008 after 30 years of service. Then, in 2010, he was employed by Yost Trucking and Supply until his illness in November, 2021.
He was Methodist by faith, and enjoyed travel, going to the casino, spending time with his family and was an avid train enthusiast.
He was a member of the Claysville Volunteer Fire Department.
On June 6, 1981, in Washington, he married Cheryl Hixenbaugh, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, James Howard Wilson, II. of Claysville; a daughter, Megan (Brian Shrontz) of Claysville; three sisters, Jeanne West, Shirley (Dave) Johnston, and Lynn (Don) Schrader; his adored granddaughter, Madison (whom he referred to as Mae Mae) Shrontz; his mother-in-law, Carolyn Hixenbaugh; a sister-in-law, Debbie (Jim Ackley) Hixenbaugh; a niece, Joy (Dan) Johnston Adams; and seven nephews, David Johnston, Jay (Amy) West, Brandon (Jessi) West, Joshua Schrader, Jordan (Angie) Schrader, Justin (Ashley) Schrader and Tyler Schrader.
Deceased are a brother-in-law, Dave West; his father-in-law, William Hixenbaugh; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Yanniello.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, in the Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2022.
All other services will be private.
