Joseph Patrick Gaynard
Joseph Patrick “Joey” Gaynard, 59, of Washington, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, June 2, 2022, in Washington Hospital. He was born June 18, 1962, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Patrick and Charlotte Rowely Gaynard.
Joey was raised in Peters Township, where he was a graduate of Peters Township High School. He was a Presbyterian who was devoted to reading his Bible and playing with his cats, Percy Brown, Giovanni Gaynard and Patchy “Little One”.
Joey enjoyed gardening, riding motorcycles, dancing at local taverns and his favorite television shows, Law and Order, NCIS and Judge Judy. He loved spending time at his brother’s campsites at Brushton Mills and Big Bear Campgrounds.
Joey was employed at the Canonsburg Shop N’ Save as a deli worker in the meat department. Left behind to cherish his memory are his companion of 30 years, Linda Amon of Washington; his longtime friend, Donny Shaw; his brothers, Bill (Sue) Gaynard of Muse and John (Donna) Basanko of Levittown; nephews, Patrick Joseph “P.J.” (Cindy) Gaynard, Josh Gaynard, Trick Gaynard; his niece, Veronica Gaynard; and sister-in-law, Verna Kendell.
Decease are his son, Douglas Brian Amon Jr., who died December 1, 1997; and two brothers, Skip Gaynard and Michael Basanko.
Friends and family are welcome from 2 until 6 p.m. Thursday, June 9, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra LFD, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where a Celebration of Joseph’s Life will take place.
