William J. Belleno, 69, of Houston, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 19, 2022, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born December 2, 1952, in Canonsburg, a son of the late William and Laura M. Giordano Belleno.

Bill was a graduate of Canon-McMillan High School, class of 1970. He then graduated from California State College in 1974, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Mr. Belleno went on to study at Duquesne University, earning a Master of Science Degree in Education in August of 1980.

He worked as an elementary and later a special education teacher for the Canon-McMillan School District for 34 years, retiring in 2011.

Raised in Muse, Bill was a devout Catholic who faithfully attended Holy Rosary Church. He was later an active member of St. Oscar Romero Parish, Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Meadowlands, where he was very involved in the English as a Second Language Program with the Latino community of the parish.

Bill was very proud of the children’s book he recently wrote, titled, “A Special Picnic to Remember”. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all he touched during his life.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his siblings: John A. Belleno of Houston, Lucille (James) Manni of Cecil Township and Mary Beth Cox of Houston; a niece, Kimberly (Robert) McAuley; and a nephew, James C. (Dawn) Manni; and several cousins.

At Mr. Belleno’s request, there will be no public visitation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 27, 2022, in St. Oscar Romero Parish, Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Pike Street, Meadowlands, with Reverend Carmen D’Amico, pastor, as celebrant.

Private interment will take place in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.

A Celebration of Bill’s life, for those attending the mass, will follow in the church’s lower level.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bill’s name are suggested to the Washington City Mission, 84 W. Wheeling Street, Washington, PA 15301.
