Catherine Bertovich
Catherine Bertovich, 89, of Avella, passed away on, Thursday, June 23, 2022, in Allegheny General Hospital.
She was born on June 29, 1932, in Penobscot (Jefferson Township, Avella), daughter of the late Michael and Anna Shubak Strho.
Catherine attended Turney and Eldersville grade schools before leaving to help on the family farm.
She was a dairy farmer her entire working life in addition to raising two children.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church.
Catherine enjoyed crocheting, gardening, canning and spending time with her family.
She was the last of her immediate family.
On June 11, 1960 she married Nicholas “Nick” Bertovich, who passed away on June 9, 2005.
Surviving Mrs. Bertovich are a son, David D. (Linda) Bertovich Sr. of Avella; a daughter, Diane (Randy) Wargo of Avella; six grandchildren: David Jr., Michaela and Dylan Bertovich, Stacey (Anthony) Kaiser, Greg (Brittany) Wargo and Nick (Katelyn) Wargo; five great-grandchildren: Christian, Jennyfer, Kathryn, Claire and Lydia.
Deceased in addition to her husband and parents, are two brothers, Pete and Mike Strho; and a sister, Anna Suhon.
Funeral services are private. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Avella.
