Bill Meeks, 93, of Washington, died on Sunday, February 27, 2022, in Washington Hospital.

He was born on July 18, 1928, in Canton, Ohio, a son of the late John and Hazel Gray Meeks.

A four-year veteran of the United States Air Force, Mr. Meeks served during the Korean War, with the 564th Supply Squadron. For his service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on October 1, 1954, with the rank of Airman Second Class.

Mr. Meeks had worked for Country Belle, was the owner of Meeks Photography, and retired from Drakenfeld.

A high school and college football fan, Bill especially enjoyed the Washington High School games.

He enjoyed car rides and day trips to both favorite places, and new places he had never been.

Bill also enjoyed going out to eat, his favorite place being Bob Evans, for their delicious breakfasts, and seeing the regulars there.

He also loved his cat Redo.

On March 20, 1954, he married the love of his life, Rita Marie Palmer, who died on February 7, 2021, following 66 wonderful years of marriage.

Surviving are a son, Billy (Jackie) Meeks, Jr.; four daughters, Sandy Wise, Susan (Dean) Jungo, Lisa (Paul) Woods, and Julie (John) St. Vincent; a brother, Richard (Nancy) Meeks; a sister, Hazel Lou (Terry) Mayne; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a son, Chris John Meeks; a son-in-law, David R. Wise; a great-granddaughter, Serenity; and four siblings, John “Jay” Meeks, Earl Meeks, Sr., Thelma Kress, and Betty McClure.

Friends will be received from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2022, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, PA, where a service will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, March 4, 2022, with Rev. Dr. Susan VandeKappelle officiating.

Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military Rites will be accorded graveside by the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.

Memorial donations may be made to Amwell Township Volunteer Fire Department, 638 Amity Ridge Road, Amity, PA 15311.
