Catherine Marie Ziefel, 59, of Nineveh, passed away Friday, February 25, 2022, in Washington Health System-Greene, in Waynesburg. She was born October 7, 1962, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Jack E. and Mary R. Muller Buzza.

Catherine was a member of St. Matthias Parish and retired as an administrative officer at SCI-Greene.

She enjoyed sewing, baking, crafting, boating and especially spending time with her family. Catherine had a big heart and was always willing to help anyone in need. She was a “mom” to many and was an animal lover. Most especially, she cherished spending time with her grandson, Jack.

On August 19, 1989, she married David F. Ziefel, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Justin D. Ziefel of Nineveh; a daughter, Christa Marie Mitchell (Michael) of Carmichaels; a grandson, Jack W. Mitchell; two brothers, John Buzza (Ranae) and Steve Buzza, both of Pittsburgh; a sister, Mary Ann Scheller of Eden Prairie, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no public viewing. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 3, in St. Matthias Parish at St. Hugh, 408 Route 88, Carmichaels, with the Rev. James Farnan as celebrant. A celebration of her life is being planned for this summer.
