Linda Rizor Higinbotham

Linda Rizor Higinbotham passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. She was born on February 1, 1945, as Linda Richards, to the late Walter Richards and Dorothy Bell Richards.

Linda grew up in the Mt. Morris and Waynesburg area, graduating from Waynesburg High School in 1963.

Marrying her first husband, James M. Rizor, of the Garrison area and together raising three children.

During this time, she and her then-husband James, with other family members ran DVM Services and many other businesses. Linda and her first husband Jim continued in business throughout her lifetime.

Linda was a very successful business woman, with an uncanny ability with numbers. During the Governor Bob Casey Sr. Administration, Linda was Chairwoman of the Women’s Democratic League of Greene County.

Linda married her second husband, the late William Higinbotham, in the early 1990s and resided in Morgantown, W.Va., and Cape Coral, Fla. Upon William’s passing, Linda returned to the Pennsylvania area to be near her children.

She was strong, independent, highly intelligent and was a true lady. Linda had her own beautiful, gracious style, which not only showed in her appearance, she also had a great eye for color and detail which reflected in her home. She will be greatly missed by all that loved and adored her.

Surviving are her children, Debra Hoy (Murray), Melissa Yeater (Jason), and Jeffrey Rizor; grandchildren, Courtney, Karlie, Kamron, Kyle, Marcus, Isaac, Kaitlyn, Joel and Jacob; great-grandchildren, Leigha, Millie and Landyn, and two step-great-granddaughters, Kyli and Rylissa; one brother, Walter Richards (Lynette); and a sister, Marcia Lazenby (Ron).

Also surviving are her brother-in-law, Mickey Lucas; and a sister-in-law, Sandi Richards; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kyrstie Hoy; three brothers and two sisters; Harry, Daniel, Barbara, and David and Myrtle who died as children.

Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home, 2678 Hornet Highway, Hundred, WV, from noon until the 2 p.m. service hour on Friday, March 4, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. with Evangelist Dick Bartrug officiating. Interment will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery, Ned, PA.
