Daniel E. Long, Sr.
Daniel E. Long, Sr., 85, of Ocala, Florida, and a native of Greene County, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, February 27, 2022.
Born April 29, 1936, in Mount Morris, he was a son of the late Rev. Walter C. and Fannie Louisa Beck Long.
A 1954 graduate of Mount Morris High School, he was a self-employed truck driver and heavy equipment and backhoe operator. He enjoyed taking his family on trips in their van all over the country, and especially working to restore his 1956 Plymouth Fury.
Married for 55 years, to the late Janice L. Gallatin Long, they ministered together, to many people in many ways, their love of the Lord. Dan and his children also shared their talents playing brass instruments and the accordion at a number of church services, revivals and camp meetings.
Surviving are his two sons, Daniel Long, Jr. and wife Lori, and Benjamin Long and wife Ashley, all of Ocala, Fla.; a brother, Mark Long of Roseburg, Ore.; a sister, Mary Louise Howard of Winchester, Va.; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins throughout the country.
In addition to his wife and parents, also deceased is his daughter, Brenda Long; brothers, Joseph, James, John, David, Paul and Philip Long; and sister, Ruth Lucas.
Friends will be received in the Mount Morris Gospel Tabernacle, the church that Dan grew up in and was founded by his father, from 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of service, on Tuesday, March 8th, with his sister, Mary Louise Howard officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Taylortown, Pa.
