Joy Williams Froebe, 84, of Avella, passed away Monday, March 7, 2022, peacefully in her home, surrounded by family.

She was born March 8, 1937, in Avella, a daughter of the late David Holtz Williams and Thelma Marie Scouvart Williams.

Joy was a 1955 graduate of Hickory High School and received her degree from West Penn Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of Hickory United Evangelical Presbyterian Church, where she held numerous positions over the years.

Joy enjoyed baking, sewing and solving crossword puzzles, but what she loved the most was spending time with her family.

On April 25, 1975, in Hickory United Presbyterian Church, she married Philip E. Froebe, who survives. Together, they worked and lived on their farm, where they raised their family.

Surviving, in addition to her husband of 46 years, are a son, Jeffrey D. Hughes (Wendy L.) of McDonald; five grandchildren, Christopher D. (Alyssa L.) Hughes, Paul E.S. Hughes, Sarah M. Hughes, Connor P. Hughes and Paige T. Hughes.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are a son, Mark J. Hughes; and a brother, David H. Williams Jr.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mount Pleasant Township Volunteer Fire Co., 106 Main Street, Hickory, PA 15340, or Hickory United E. P. Church, 210 Main Street, Hickory, PA 15340.
