On Saturday, March 5, 2022, David Robert “Dave” Wilson passed away, at the age of 75, surrounded by his beloved wife and two sons.

Dave was born in Dayton, Ohio, to Ethel Barlow and William Wilson, and grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. The youngest of two boys, “Sharks” spent his youth in Greenhills, Ohio, playing on his high school basketball and golf teams, and helping the latter to their first Ohio State Golf Tournament in 1964.

Dave was drafted and bravely served in Vietnam like many young men of his era. He was a member of the 101st Airborne Division, “Screaming Eagles”, earning the Air Medal, Bronze Star, and other recognitions.

Upon his safe return, he earned a master’s degree in business from Miami University and moved to Pittsburgh, where he started his career and met the love of his life, Kathleen Daube Wilson. They married in 1975, and started a family, welcoming two sons, David Ryan and Bradley Joseph.

Dave was born to be a dad. Despite working long hours to build his career as a financial planner, he always found time to support his boys’ passions, coaching their youth sports teams and offering sound advice from the sidelines as they matured.

For more than 40 years, Dave worked as a financial planner at UBS (Paine Webber), building his business from the ground up and, more importantly, a career of service. He was incredibly talented at his profession and cared deeply about his clients-many of whom became close friends.

Dave had many friends who will undoubtedly remember him for his kindhearted nature and fun-loving spirit.

He enjoyed attending outdoor concerts, playing rounds of golf (finally got a hole-in-one in 2020), casting a fishing line into the ocean, and meals al fresco. He even fancied himself a guitar enthusiast and earned the nickname “music man.”

Dave loved his family with all of his heart, especially his grandchildren, and he was never afraid to show it. They will fondly remember his presence at school and sporting events, his thoughtful calls and text messages, his love for the Cincinnati Bengals, Skyline Chili, jelly donuts, the invention of the “Dave’s Burger,” and his seasonal Christmas attire. The list could go on and on. We are all so lucky to love him and to have been loved by him.

Dave was preceded in death by his father, William; mother, Ethel; and brother, William Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; two children, David Ryan (Kristyn) and Brad (Rachel); five grandchildren, David Jack, Brynn, Helen, Walter, and Margaret; and nieces, great-nephews, and in-laws.
