James Boothe
James “Jim” Boothe, 79, of Scenery Hill, passed away Monday, March 7, 2022 in his home.
He was born August 18, 1942 in Washington, a son of the late Arthur and Elizabeth Rogers Boothe.
Jim was a 1961 graduate of California Area High School.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving as a supply truck driver. For his service he was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
He was employed as an underground coal miner at Bethlehem Mine #60, Eighty Four for 25 years and was also a lifelong self-employed farmer. He was a member of the UMWA and the Mine Rescue team.
Jim enjoyed small engine repair, Sunday night Oldies, truck and tractor pulls, fairs and evenings on the front porch. He especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
Surviving are four children, Dana Landman (Joseph) of Dunlevy, Denice Lacey (Dave Shriner) of Scenery Hill, James R. Boothe (Melissa) of Long Branch, and Stephen Boothe (Patricia) of Scenery Hill; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Boothe of Ellsworth; several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to his parents is his wife Sandra Sue Phillips Boothe who died September 5, 2017.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, Ltd., 2830 Main St. Beallsville, PA where Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 11, 2022 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Joe DiDonato officiating.
