Mrs. Maryjo Niverth Barr, 72, of Marianna, passed peacefully Monday, March 7, 2022, in St. Clair Hospital, Pittsburgh, surrounded by loved ones.

She was the wife of the late Andrew “Jack” Barr of Marianna. Born in Brownsville June 10, 1949, a daughter of the late Steve J. and Eda Costa Niverth, she was a 1967 graduate of Bethlehem Center High School and a member of the former Saints Mary and Ann Roman Catholic Church in Marianna.

Maryjo is survived by her mother, Eda Niverth; and siblings, Stephen, Lisette and Lance Niverth of Marianna; as well as her children, Dr. Paul Burgoyne, Mrs. Jenny Burgoyne Brown, Mrs. Amy Burgoyne Hussey and Bessy Burgoyne Carney.

Maryjo was a life-long caregiver spending many years parenting the Burgoyne children in Michigan. Throughout her life she also provided support for those recovering from addictions, caring for patients with long-term memory needs, and caring for the elderly.

Her passions included gardening and cooking. Maryjo was an accomplished master gardener as well as a talented baker and chef. She was generous with her talents and love. Maryjo was also an animal lover having nurtured many lucky dogs throughout her life, and she was a lover of political information. Most knew it was best to grin and agree (and she was usually right).

Services will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 10, in Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington.

A guest book may be signed at www.nicholfuneralhome.com.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Animal Rescue League Wildlife Center at 6000 Verona Road, Verona.
